Minimum interprofessional salary for 2025

The Royal Decree 87/2025, of February 11, which sets the Minimum Interprofessional Salary 2025, was published in the B.O.E. of February 12, 2025.

This decree will take effect during the period between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2025, resulting in the payment of the minimum interprofessional salary 2025 effective from January 1, 2025.

In layman’s terms, this represents the new minimum wage Valencia and for the rest of Spain.

Minimum Interprofessional Salary 2025

The minimum interprofessional salary 2025 is set as follows:

  • Monthly: 1,184.00 euros/month
  • Daily: 39.47 euros/day

Two extraordinary payments of one full month’s salary each are added, bringing the minimum annual salary 2025 to a total of 16,576.00 euros.

Regional context: Minimum wage Valencia 2025

While the minimum interprofessional salary 2025 applies nationwide, workers in the Comunidad Valenciana need to understand how this impacts them specifically. In Valencia, employers must comply with the same minimums:

1,184.00 euros/month, usually as 14 payments per year. This translates to 16,576.00 euros/year, and 39.47 euros/day.

Many industries in Valencia, particularly tourism, agriculture, and hospitality, employ large numbers of seasonal and hourly workers, including foreign workers and EU nationals.

If you are working in these sectors, these updated wage floors must be respected regardless of contract type.

For hourly-based part-time or temporary jobs in Valencia, the minimum wage in Spain per hour is approximately 7.43 euros, calculated from the annual amount divided by legal working hours.

However, domestic and temporary worker rates are higher, and Valencia-based employers must apply those where relevant.

Conditions for temporary workers

For casual or temporary workers within Spain, whose services to the same company do not exceed 120 days, the minimum amount is set at:

  • 56.08 euros per legal working day

Conditions for domestic employees

For domestic employees, the minimum wage Valencia per hour is:

  • 9.23 euros per hour worked

Minimum wage in Spain per hour for international students

If you’re an international student in Valencia, you’re allowed to work up to 30 hours per week during your studies, according to Spanish labour regulations (LO 4/2000 and RD 557/2011).

The minimum wage in Spain per hour for international students must comply with national standards.

As of 2025:

  • For casual or temporary jobs: 56.08 euros/day, which is roughly 7.01 euros/hour based on an 8-hour shift
  • For domestic work: 9.23 euros/hour

Most part-time student jobs, like barista, language assistant, or hospitality work, should align with these rates or higher.

Make sure your contract reflects these legal minimums, especially if you’re working under a student visa in Valencia.

Self-employed workers: Does the minimum interprofessional salary 2025 apply?

Although the minimum interprofessional salary 2025 does not directly apply to autónomos (self-employed workers), it still serves as a benchmark.

Many tax thresholds, social security contributions (cuota de autónomos), and subsidy qualifications are based on the minimum wage.

For example:

Monthly cuota de autónomos in 2025 starts at approximately 320 euros/month, but this may vary depending on income.

To receive certain public subsidies or minimum income support, autónomos often need to prove income below or above the minimum wage Valencia levels.

So, while you don’t earn a “salary” as a freelancer, understanding the minimum interprofessional salary 2025 is essential when calculating your pricing, deductions, and compliance with tax obligations.
